Football Ontario

UPDATE: Statement On COVID-19

2020-03-13

Please review the following statement from the OFA regarding COVID-19 and its upcoming events.

March 13th, 2020 | 11:30AM

Football Canada and the Ontario Football Alliance will continue to monitor the public health situation regarding the novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. The likelihood of contracting the virus in Canada continues to remain low.

With that being said, the Ontario Football Alliance will be suspending all events being run in the month of March, including but not limited to; Team Ontario: Ottawa, ON Selection Camp and upcoming March OFA Coaching Clinics. With the guidance of Football Canada, the Ontario Football Alliance will reassess the situation on March 30 for our April events.

Please monitor the OntarioFootball.ca website for official updates and changes.

The Ontario Football Alliance highly recommends suspension of practice or play of any football activity until further notice. However, if you choose to continue operation we suggest:
  • Check daily with Ontario Public Health on the status regarding public health gatherings and regarding the latest bulletins on COVID-19.
  • No sharing water bottles.
  • No shaking hands after games.
  • Monitor and follow provincial restrictions surrounding group gatherings.
  • Re-enforce washing of hands.
  • Instruct athletes, coaches, officials, administrators, trainers, equipment managers to stay home if feeling ill.
The health and well-being of our football community is our absolute top priority. We ask that you have faith in our decision on this matter and that the Ontario Football Alliance and Football Canada have your best interests in play.
