OFA: Committee Members

The Ontario Football Alliance currently has openings on the following committee's; Finance, Oversight, & Sport Development.

OFA  Committees are  intended to be a working group and members should be thoughtfully selected who will be actively engaged throughout the process.  Committees must be made up of individuals (minimum of 1 from each) from the Board of Directors, Executive Council, OFA members and an OFA staff member.

Finance Committee

The role of the OFA Finance Committee is: 
  • Fee Structure (member fees coaches, players, volunteers, officials)
  • Yearly Operating Budget
  • Finance Policy
  • Services by OFA – what is part of the fee? What is an add on?
The Finance Committee Volunteer should have: 
  • Ability to understand financial statements
  • Experience in creating budgets
  • Knowledge of financial policy and procedures for non-profits.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other committee members.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Time to dedicate to this professional volunteer opportunity (approximately 3 hours per month)
  • Commitment to take on an occasional finance related special project.
  • Commitment to attend regular meetings. 
  • Must be comfortable in a team environment

Oversight Committee

The responsibilities of the Oversight Committee are to:
  • Membership deadlines
  • Marketing / Communications
  • Discipline 
  • Review of OFA PoliciesThe Oversight volunteer committee member should have/be: 
  • Officially represent the OFA members and key interest groups Ability to work cooperatively with other committee members.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Time to dedicate to this professional volunteer opportunity, anticipated to be between one and two meetings monthly over the course of the first three months and then one meeting a month for the next year.  (approximately 3 hours per month)
  • Commitment to attend regular meetings.
  • Must be comfortable in a team environment

Sport Development Committee

The responsibilities of the Sport Development Committee are:
  • Coaches Development/training
  • Player Development
  • Official Development/training/recruiting
  • Grassroot programs – what is out there, what can we develop
  • Flag – Non-Contact
  • Sanctioning 
The Sport Development volunteer committee member should have/be: 
  • Officially represent the OFA members and key interest groups 
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other committee members.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Time to dedicate to this professional volunteer opportunity, anticipated to be between one and two meetings monthly over the course of the first three months and then one meeting a month for the next year.  (approximately 3 hours per month)
  • Commitment to attend regular meetings. 
  • Be comfortable in a team environment
