About the Ontario Football Alliance

The Ontario Football Alliance is the official Provincial Sport Organization for Football Ontario. As part of our Ministry mandate, it is the OFA's job to put together elite level teams to compete in National Competitions. The OFA is a Not-For-Profit organization & proud Members of Football Canada.

1. What is the Canada Cup & East Challenge?

The Football Canada Cup is a National Tournament run by Football Canada; the National Sport Organization for Football in Canada. The event is attend by every USports Football team in Canada. All schools have full access to the players during practices & games.

The East Challenge is a Regional Tournament run by Football Canada; the National Sport Organization for Football in Canada. Football Canada will also be running a West Challenge for the Western Provinces. 

This year the Canada Cup will be taking place in Calgary, AB (July 15th - 22nd) & the East Challenge  will be hosted by Ontario Football in Guelph, ON (July 8th - 14th)!

2. Is this the real Team Ontario?

Yes, this is the official Team Ontario recognized by Football Canada. As stated before, the Ontario Football Alliance is a Not-For-Profit organization, and Official Provincial Sport Organization for Football in Ontario.

3. Why should I tryout for Team Ontario?

Competing for Team Ontario and representing your province is a fantastic way to play with the top players in Ontario, receive coaching from some of the best OUA coaches, & compete against the best in the country.

As well, All-Star teams from both events will be selected to represent Team Canada at the 2019 International Bowl.

4. Who can try out for the Canada Cup & East Challenge?

Anyone is eligible to tryout for the Football Canada Cup & East Challenge, as long as they are members of the Ontario Football Alliance.

U18 Canada Cup: 2001 - 2002
U16 East Challenge:  2003 - 2004

5. When are the tryouts?

The Ontario Football Alliance is running four tryouts for each age group. Below are a list of dates for each team.

REMINDER: Tryouts are Full Equipment.

February 24th: Ottawa, ON
March 3rd: Vaughan, ON
March 4th: Amherstburg, ON
March 24th: Stoney Creek, ON
April 14th: Guelph, ON*

*Kicker/Punter tryout only.

6. What is the cost to tryout?

It cost $100 to tryout. This includes a full evaluation and official Team Ontario Practice Jersey.

7. How much does it cost if I make the team?

For both the Canada Cup & East Challenge, the cost will be $1600*. For more details on this, please don't hesitate to contact the office at 519-780-0200 & speak to Josh Prior.

The cost includes all expenses for the trip, including flights, food, accommodations, & Team Ontario gear.

*Sponsorship opportunities avaliable to help with final costs if needed. 

8. What if I make the team & can't pay?

If you are selected to the team and can't cover the fee's, the Ontario Football Alliance does have sponsorship opportunities to help cover the cost.

Payment plans can also be set up should you be selected.

9. Do parents NEED to attend the trip?

No, parents do not need to attend the trip. Players are supervised by the Ontario Football Alliance Staff, Support Staff, & Coaching Staff while away.

If you cannot attend the trip, the games will be stream online LIVE!

10. When do we find out who makes the team and how many are selected?

Canada Cup
Players selected to the Top 90 Red vs Black weekend will be notified April 6th (Draft taking place on April 5th). Following the Top 90 weekend, the final 54 will be selected the first week of May. 40 players will be selected to the roster along with 14 alternates.

East Challenge
Players selected to the team will be informed the first week of May. 40 players will be selected to the roster along with 14 alternates.
