Football Ontario

UPDATE: Statement On COVID-19

2020-03-27

Please review the following statement from the OFA regarding COVID-19 and its upcoming events.

March 27th, 2020 | 11:30AM

Football Canada and the Ontario Football Alliance will continue to monitor the public health situation regarding the novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. Members and the football community are encouraged to check OntarioFootball.ca & FootballCanada.com for updates as they develop.

With that being said, in compliance with the Federal and Provincial Government along with the guidance of Football Canada, the Ontario Football Alliance will be suspending all events in the month of April, including but not limited too; Team Ontario: Toronto, ON Selection Camp, Team Ontario: Waterloo, ON Specialist Camp, Team Ontario: Red vs Black and upcoming April OFA Coaching Clinics. With the guidance of Football Canada, the Ontario Football Alliance will reassess the situation on April 30 for our May events.

Following the direction of Football Canada and the Football Canada Board of Directors, the Ontario Football Alliance suspends all face-to-face meetings or gatherings, training, practice and play for all members indefinitely due to the issues surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Ontario Football Alliance is working closely with Football Canada regarding the 2020 National events. In the present situation with the uncertainty on when sport can return to normal participation, the Ontario Football Alliance team is working diligently on re-booking the Red vs Black Weekend at a later date. We will be working with the coaching staff to determine the details of that weekend but cannot confirm anything at this time.

The Ontario Football Alliance is currently working on a U14 Community Sport Online Coach Training pilot program that is set to run April 1st. If you are interested in taking part, please contact Adam Ziegler at nccp ontariofootball.ca. We hope to have more information out about future online trainings later next week.

The health and well-being of our football community is our absolute top priority. We ask that you have faith in our decision on this matter and that the Ontario Football Alliance and Football Canada have your best interests in play.
