Football Ontario Has Elected Three to its Board of Directors at the 2021 AGM This Past Sunday
Hamilton, Ontario - Football Ontario has elected three new members to its Board of Directors at the 2021 Annual General Meeting (AGM) this past Sunday.
Mark Antonelli, Mark DeNobile, and Scott Westlake were all chosen by the members to serve on the Board of Directors for Football Ontario.
This election brings three new faces to the board and brings depth of football and sport leadership that will help strategically guide Football Ontario, as football continues to recover from the ongoing public health situation.
Mark DeNobile is a past Executive who spent 25 years participating, playing, and working in the space of minor and professional football in Canada. In his early days, he levelled up his playing abilities to become a high school coach. His passion and expertise for the game gained him entryway to the big leagues, becoming the VP of Operations for the Hamilton Tiger Cats, and then, the Executive Director of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.
“I’m very honoured to be selected by Football Ontario to the Board of Directors.
I look forward to helping grow the game of football in Ontario for all user groups,” says Mark DeNobile.
Scott Westlake, out of Ottawa, has a long history within the game of football both as a coach and as a player, playing and coaching at the U Sports level as well as coaching for Team Ontario. He graduated from Bishop’s University with a degree in business and has worked with many organizations within different industries both in and out of Canada; from professional sales to fundraising and sponsorship development in non-profit organizations.
“Having been a player and coach for more than 30 years it is an absolute privilege to combine my professional background to work with all of the great people who give so much to help grow football in Ontario,” says Scott in regard to his excitement about the role.
Mark Antonelli is a current teacher, football coach and LFOA official and has been around the sport of football for over 25 years. He attended the University of Guelph where he played football for five years and won the Captain’s Award, voted upon by his teammates. He has coached at many different levels within the province, including high-school, grassroots, and the university level.
When asked about his election, Mark Antonelli said, “I am excited and honoured to be elected amongst a strong group within the football community. I will do my best to work with all stakeholders to strengthen football in Ontario!”
Due to the ongoing public health restrictions, this year’s AGM was conducted online over Zoom, in accordance with current government health orders.
In the Football Ontario governance structure, the business of Football Ontario is conducted by a Board of Directors..
