Football Ontario Unveils New 2022-2025 Strategic Plan
Hamilton, Ontario - Football Ontario unveils new 2022-2025 strategic plan that places a focus on football for all through leadership, promotion, and development.
The new strategic plan establishes 6 core values for Football Ontario:
-
Innovation - be an innovative provincial governing body
-
Alignment - align football in Ontario under one vision and growth strategy
-
Excellence -strive for excellence by holding ourselves to a higher standard
-
Wellness- to ensure the wellness and health of all athletes, coaches, officials, and parents who participate in our game
-
Community - to foster a culture of togetherness in Ontario focused around football
-
Inclusion - to provide an inclusive environment to grow the sport
The new strategic plan has three main pillars of focus, grassroots football within local communities; innovation provincially within Ontario; and leadership nationally within Canada.
At the grassroots level, Football Ontario aims to have engaged and satisfied members and stakeholders, while also increasing both the number of new participants and amount of programming available to all.
At the provincial level, Football Ontario aims to have one aligned community and become a provincial leader and governing body for sport across the province. This includes aligning the organization with all participants as well as strategic partnerships with high schools in order to grow the sport in the community and within schools.
At the national level, Football Ontario looks to be at the forefront of the football landscape across Canada in success, influence, and reputation. Football Ontario will place a focus on leading the best practices in order to set the standard for high performance and organizational excellence across Canada.
One of the main goals of this strategic plan is to create a more inclusive environment province wide to ensure football is accessible and available to everyone who wants to participate. Football Ontario will make this vision a reality by removing barriers that exclude specific communities, create greater inclusion at leadership levels, developing partnerships and undergoing fundraising programs that target financial barriers.
Football Ontario will place an emphasis on both non-contact and female football. The organization aims to increase participation rates for both boys and girls non-contact football while maintaining a safe playing environment for all participants. Football Ontario will also have female specific programming aimed and girls and women only pathways for all football disciplines and roles. This will include creating female only training for coaches and officials to create a more diverse leadership team.
Finally but potentially most importantly, Football Ontario will look to place a larger focus on the health and wellness of all members and stakeholders. This will be accomplished by having wellness education and support systems available to all participants, coaches, and referees. The organization will provide all the necessary resources to all stakeholders and members to allow for the promotion of safe sport in Ontario.

This new strategic plan is a glimpse into the future of Football Ontario. A future where more participants play the sport of football in Ontario, the organization is recognized as an innovator in the Ontario Sport Community and a leader in the Canadian football Community.
