Football Canada Puts Out a Call for Mentees for the BFFC Mentorship Program

Football Canada Looking for Mentees for the BFCC Mentorship Program

 

Hamilton, Ontario - Football Canada is currently seeking Mentees for the BFCC Mentorship Program. 

 

The Program endeavours to increase the opportunities for BIPOC athletes and coaches to develop their skills as coaches, mentors, leaders, and role models. 

 

The Program centers around teaching coaches that identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour how to overcome barriers related to the complex intersectionality between race and sport, identifying what barriers exist and how to identify them, teaching about accessibility, preparation for potential obstacles coaches face in the field, organizational skills, leadership, development and more.

 

By strengthening the pool of BIPOC coaches, the overall football field of coaches is enhanced through the array of unique perspectives, representation, and ideologies that come from such diversification.

 

Having athletes exposed to a diverse range of qualified coaches that is more representative of the BIPOC football community contributes to more relatable role models for players to help navigate and overcome various barriers.

 

Creating more opportunities for diverse groups of coaches to enter the field will not only increase the numbers of coaches available, but can also increase the skill of the provincial teams across Canada.
