OUR STORY/VISION AND VALUES
The York Simcoe Minor Football Association's early philosophy continues today - introducing kids to the aspect of Respect, Integrity, Honesty, fair play,Discipline and Perseverance, using the game of football as our tool.
The York Simcoe Minor Football Association was formed under the name The Newmarket Minor Football Association (NMFA) in 1995 in response to a request from the Central Ontario Minor Football League (COMFL) for expansion in its 10th anniversary year. A small group of dedicated parents began with a team of 16 boys and girls in the Tyke Division (10 years and under).
In August of 1995 the Young Bucs played their first game and the YSMF Association was born. Our first season also brought us to our first championship game against a previously undefeated team fromr North York. It was a seesaw battle ultimately resulting in an upset win by an upstart team, the Young Bucs from Newmarket!
In 1996 we added the Atom Division (12 years old and under) and a Peewee Division the following year (14 years old and under).
2001: The Junior Varsity Division (15 to 17 years of age) was added in.
2004: Congratulations to the Pee Wee team for going to the semi-finals in Oshawa!
2005: Congratulations to all of our teams this year. 'Great job' to our Tykes, Atoms and Peewees for making it to the AA playoffs!
2006: Congratulations to all of our teams again this year! The Tykes are the 2006 COMFL AA Champions and the Junior Varsity Bucs are the 2006 SCOFL Champions!
2007: We added a house league program for the Tyke and Atom divisions.
2008: Our summer Peewee and Varsity programs were added.
2010: We added the winter in-door Flag Football Program.
2011: We added a varsity Division by acquiring the Newmarket Storm.

The York Simcoe Minor Football Association's early philosophy continues today - introducing kids to the aspect of team play, fair play and sportsmanship, using the game of football as our tool. The Association's mandate is to introduce as many boys and girls to the game of football (played under the Canadian rules) as possible and to ensure that they are coached safely. The Association added one other essential element to its mandate:
FUN! The emphasis on fun must be included to ensure a positive and lasting experiencefor each participant.
