COVID-19 Return to Football Update

Ontario Government announces transition from the provincial lockdown and stay at home orders.

On February 8th, 2021 the Ontario Government announced the transition from the provincial lockdown and stay at home orders. This marks the next step in the fight against the COVID-19 Pandemic in the province. Starting as early as February 9th, 2021 the province of Ontario will be gradually transitioning back to the Ontario Covid-19 Response Framework. On Tuesday February 9th, 2021 the following regions will be returning to the response framework at the green prevent restriction level: Hastings-Prince Edward in the Belleville area, the Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox & Addington health unit, and the Renfrew County and District health unit.

With the exception of Toronto, Peel Region and York Region the remaining 28 provincials regions will return to the framework on February 16,2021. For organizations within the remaining 28 regions please refer to the Ontario Covid-19 Response Framework over the next few days to determine which colour zone your region will be placed into. For Toronto, Peel Region and York Region lockdown will be transitioned to the framework as of February 22, 2021. 

 

In preparation for the next transition in the COVID-19 pandemic organizations should refer to Ontario Football Return to Football 2.2 and the Covid-19 Response Framework Modifications to develop/re-evaluate their Return to Football safety plans for the spring. As a requirement of the Ontario return to sport framework organizations must have their Return to Football safety plans completed and available by request of your regional health authorities. Please ensure your association has completed the following:

  1. Completed and submitted your membership documentation for 2021: Member Form
  2. Have a Return to Football safety plan completed and available to regional health authorities
  3. Ensure registration of all participants in the OFA member registry for 2021: Member Registry

Please note: Organizations must ensure these items are completed prior to starting any sport activities.
