Varsity OFC Returns as Members
Varsity Ontario Football Conference rejoins the Ontario Football Alliance as full members.
Hamilton, Ontario February 25 2021: The Ontario Football Alliance is excited to welcome the Varsity Ontario Football Conference as returning members of the provincial sport organization.
After a short hiatus away from the provincial sport body the Varsity Ontario Football Conference Executive and membership voted to return to Ontario Football this past week. The organization and its association will immediately begin to receive all membership benefits to assist in delivering COVID-19 compliant football activities for 2021 and planning for the 2022 season.
What this means for the Varsity Ontario Football Conference:
● Full access to Ontario Football resources including safe sport, safety programs and new program initiatives
● Full access to Football Canada resources including safety programs, partners and new initiatives.
● Eligibility for the associations to compete at provincial championships at all age levels.
● Eligibility to be represented at Regional, National and International competitions through Team Ontario and Team Canada.
● Access to coaching certification programming and resources.
● Access to officials’ certification programming and resources.
● Access to host and participate in provincial flag tournaments and championships through the Ontario Flag Football League
● Access to Host Regional and National events
● Access to Mobile tools such as Players Health Rehab, Protect and FC Mobile
● Full insurance coverage under the Football Canada National insurance policy
● Access to Ontario Football and Football Canada grassroots programming such as FC First Down, FC Flag, CFL Futures, and Ultimate Football
● Representation on the Ontario Football Alliance Executive Council
● Representation on provincial committees including the Ontario Spring Tackle League task force which will shape the future growth of spring football in Ontario.
This announcement marks an important step in aligning the provincial football landscape. The OFC working as a partner to develop the game in Ontario with the Ontario Football Alliance and its membership provides greater opportunities for collaboration to move the game forward.

The Varsity OFC, in collaboration with the OFA, is working with its associations to ensure that each center has COVID-19 permitted football programming. The goal is to provide each center an opportunity to play football safely. The OFA will be a resource for its members on issues such as Return to Football protocols, football programming options, insurance and other issues related to operating and growing amateur football as the sport and province navigates through the pandemic.
“Having the Varsity OFC involved at the provincial level is great for football as a whole in Ontario. Creating more alignment with stakeholders and findings ways to provide value to their associations and participants is a must” said Don Hamilton, OFA President. “The Varsity OFC is a league with deep roots and history in the province and we are excited to have them help guide football and its development into the future.”
The Varsity Ontario Football Conference currently represents approximately 2,000 members including twelve member associations across the province.
