Ontario Football, the Capital Rebels, OWIFA and Football Canada have partnered to offer the Women in Football Learning Series Presented by Power Circle Athletics

Hamilton, Ontario - The Ontario Football Alliance (OFA) announced today the introduction of the Women in Football Virtual Learning series presented by Power Circle Athletics. The Virtual learning series will provide an opportunity for women new to the sport or with experience in the sport to expand their football knowledge through a series of online football sessions presented by coaches and current CFL players.

 The virtual learning series will start April 12 and go until May 26 covering a variety of topics including a variety football 101 and position specific instruction. These sessions will be led by former and current CFL players through Power Circle Athletics vast network. The series is intended for any and all women that are interested in the sport for the first time or would like to expand their football knowledge as a player, coach, administrator, official or a fan. Sessions will take place in the evening from 7:30pm EST - 8:30pm EST and attendees can choose to attend all or just the ones that interest them most.

"With this workshop's amazing lineup of experienced coaches and players, we hope to reach as many women across Ontario as possible to tell them that it is possible to play tackle football as a woman.” says Sonia Rodi co-founder Capital Rebels   “The content is formulated for beginners as well as experienced football players and it will hopefully help increase women's participation in Football not only as players, but also as coaches, administrators and officials. This Workshop is an important first step towards recruiting women and in building female contact football teams and a provincial league for Ontario to join and play against the other female Canadian Football leagues. "
 

This announcement marks the first of many initiatives to grow female participation in the sport of football in the province. Ontario Football and its partner stakeholders intend to continue providing more and new opportunities for women to participate at all levels.
